Testimonials

★★★★★

"I would most certainly refer to others"

My experience with Malahat Valuation Group was excellent. I received the answers I sought in a timeline and detailed manner. Further, I experienced a personable connection wherein I felt valued not only as a customer, but also a human being. If not for this valuation, I may have made a monumental mistake in letting go of my business for the benefit of another, larger organization.

★★★★★

"Impartiality was evident throughout the process"

A delicate valuation done professionally and well. It was very helpful to have the real estate valuation done by the same company to streamline the valuation process. Impartiality was required and was evident throughout the process.

Anne Owner

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Are equipment appraisals accepted by lenders and insurers?

Yes, when prepared by qualified professionals following recognized standards, equipment appraisals are widely accepted by financial institutions, insurers, and regulatory bodies. Malahat Valuation is the go to equipment appraisal company in Western Canada, our appraisal reports are accepted by most chartered backs and financial institutions.

How much does an equipment appraisal cost?

Fees depend on the number of assets, complexity, and whether a physical inspection is required. We provide a clear, fee estimate once the scope of work is established.

What is the difference between orderly liquidation value and fair market value?

Fair Market Value assumes a transaction between willing buyers and sellers under normal market conditions. Orderly Liquidation Value reflects the expected proceeds from a sale over a limited time frame, typically lower than fair market value due to time constraints.

What information is needed for an equipment appraisal?

Key information includes asset lists, purchase dates, original costs, maintenance records, and current condition. Photographs and site inspections are required in most cases to support the asset appraisals.

How long does an equipment appraisal take?

Most assignments are completed within 1 to 3 weeks, depending on the number of assets, their location, and the level of inspection required. Larger or multi-site asset portfolios may require additional time.

What types of equipment can be appraised?

A wide range of assets can be appraised, including manufacturing equipment, construction machinery, vehicles, medical equipment, and specialized industrial assets. Both individual assets and entire asset groups can be valued. Some of the most interesting assignments are wineries, breweries and integrated manufacturing facilities.

How is machinery and equipment valued?

Valuation is typically based on the Cost Approach (replacement cost less depreciation), the Market Approach (comparable sales), and, where applicable, the Income Approach. The selected methodology depends on the type of equipment, its condition, and available market data. However, market values typically drive equipment appraisal in most cases.

Why would I need an equipment appraisal?

Equipment appraisals are commonly required for financing, insurance coverage, purchase or sale transactions, financial reporting, tax planning, and litigation matters. They provide an objective estimate of the fair market value of physical assets.
