Ernest is a distinguished Chartered Business Valuator, a multilingual professional fluent in two languages, and an esteemed graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Entrepreneurial Management from Royal Roads University.

With his enduring passion for business and entrepreneurship, Ernest has been a driving force behind numerous early-stage business ventures throughout his career. Balancing a diverse and extensive business background with the responsibilities of a young family, Ernest now dedicates his expertise to collaborating with established business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs, and their professional advisors in the specialized field of Business Valuation.

With a rich history of owning and operating businesses firsthand spanning over two decades, Ernest imparts unique perspectives and insights to every assignment. His practical knowledge of how businesses truly operate, the challenges they encounter, and the identification of growth opportunities set him apart. Armed with this profound understanding, Ernest not only delivers well-supported value opinions but also guides companies in enhancing their distinct value drivers, fostering an increase in their intrinsic value over time.

Aleksandra is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in geography, GIS technical consulting, and real estate appraisal. Graduating with a BSc in Geography from the University of Victoria in 2001, she embarked on a successful career path that led her to provide invaluable GIS technical consulting services to the provincial government for many years.

Driven by her passion for real estate, Aleksandra transitioned into the realm of property appraisal, earning her AACI designation through the Real Estate Division of UBC in 2015, a milestone she achieved with merit in the spring of 2021.

Throughout her career, Aleksandra has undertaken a wide spectrum of assignments focusing on commercial properties, ranging from multi-family units, office spaces, industrial complexes, to mixed-use developments, and commercial development land projects across Vancouver Island. With each project, her unwavering commitment is to deliver meticulously researched, precise, and comprehensible appraisal reports, fostering enduring client relationships based on trust and reliability.

As a respected appraiser, Aleksandra is esteemed by both her clients and peers in the industry, recognized for her integrity, sincerity, and adeptness in handling complex situations with diplomacy. Serving as an appraisal partner at Malahat Valuation Group, she collaborates closely with Ernest on assignments encompassing both business valuation and commercial real estate appraisals. This integrated approach streamlines the process for clients, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and comprehensive solutions under one roof.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Aleksandra is a dedicated fitness enthusiast and smoothie aficionado, infusing energy and positivity into every facet of her life. Known for her adept communication skills and innovative problem-solving abilities, she navigates challenges with ease, consistently delivering results that exceed expectations.

In addition to her professional commitments, Aleksandra has assumed leadership roles within the Appraisal Institute of Canada, currently serving as the acting chair of the Victoria Chapter since 2022, further demonstrating her dedication to advancing the standards and practices within the field.

Janet is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) with over 30 years of experience providing client-focused services. She has more than twenty plus years of experience in providing business valuations, litigation support services, and a range of management and financial consulting services to a wide variety of clients in many industry sectors as well to the public sectors and ten years in public practice providing audit, tax, and accounting services.​

She has appeared as an expert witness in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and before the Public Accounts Committee for the government of British Columbia providing insights and explanations on valuation issues.

Janet is one of the most senior business valuators on Vancouver Island and at Malahat Valuation Group, she collaborates and mentors other valuators on all business valuation engagements. Her three decades of valuation experience are invaluable and she really is our not-so-secret competitive advantage.  Simply put, Janet adds incremental perspective and provides additional assurance to every valuation assignment.

Phil Doublet is a highly accomplished entrepreneur, author, and advisor with over 25 years of experience across dozens of industries. To date, he has founded/co-founded 7 high-tech and professional service businesses and achieved three exits including a successful IPO. He has served on more than 15 public, private and not-for-profit boards as a director and/or board chair, including organizations such as DeVry Canada, ApartmentLove Inc. (CSE:APLV), and Easter Seals BC & Yukon.

Phil specializes in helping business owners to achieve the freedom to be able to do what they want, when they want, for the rest of their lives. His team helps a build a business that anyone would want to buy, but that you’ll never want to sell (until you’re ready!) You’ll be working fewer hours and making more money as we transform your business into a highly saleable entity.

As well, he has strong expertise in finance (including M&A), marketing, sales and operations and he has delivered many presentations on these topics to both in-person and virtual audiences.

Phil has offices in Victoria, BC, and Calgary, Alberta, and enjoys traveling, reading, investing, and golf. He is married with two adult children.

Mitchell Vandersluys is an Accredited Senior Appraiser in Machinery and Technical Specialties with Malahat Valuation Group, supporting clients with accurate, defensible appraisals of machinery, equipment, aircraft, and other personal property assets across Vancouver Island and the coastal region.

Mitchell brings a practical, hands-on uderstanding of equipment to every assignment. As a Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician with more than a decade of experience inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, servicing, welding, and modifying heavy equipment, he understands not only what an asset is worth, but how it works, how it wears, and what condition tells you about value.

His appraisal work supports litigation, insurance, financing, and the purchase or sale of businesses across industries including heavy industry, construction, manufacturing, restaurants, and aviation-related assets. Mitchell is a member of the American Society of Appraisers and the Canadian Personal Property Appraisers Group, and has completed specialized ASA coursework in machinery, equipment, and aircraft valuation.

Outside of work, Mitchell is a proud new dad who enjoys health and wellness, bodybuilding, and getting out on the water with his wife and daughter. He is also partway through his pilot’s license, reflecting his ongoing interest in aviation, mechanics, and lifelong learning.
