Ernest Bednarz, CBV
Founder and Principal
Ernest is passionate about business and entrepreneurship. Doing the deals, has always driven Ernest to get involved in early stage business ventures experiencing rapid growth. With a vast business background Ernest now works with business entrepreneurs and business managers in the field of Business Valuation. Having owned and operated businesses first hand for over 20 years, Ernest brings with him unique perspectives and insights, as he knows how businesses actually work, the pressures they are under and where opportunities may be present. Armed with this knowledge and experience Ernest is able to help companies improve on their unique value drivers to increase and grow their intrinsic value.
Ernest has grown up on the West Coast of Canada every since he was ten, when he arrived in Canada from Austria where he lived for a number of years after being born in Poland. Ernest speaks two languages and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Royal Roads University in Entrepreneurial Management.
Ernest loves the great outdoors of British Columbia and the sandy beaches of the Caribbean. Ernest is always looking forward to meeting new business owners and helping them determine and improve the value of their businesses.
Aleksandra graduated from the University of Victoria with a BSc in Geography and contracted for the provincial government for many years providing GIS technical consulting services.
Driven by her interest in real estate Aleksandra pursuing the AACI designation through the Appraisal Institute of Canada.
She is a fitness fanatic, smoothie enthusiast and is able to have a good time wherever she goes. She has a way with words, gets the job done, and excels at creative approaches to problem solving.
Janet Heino, CPA, CA, CBV
Senior Valuator & Mentor
Janet is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) with over 30 years‘ experience providing client focused services. She has more than twenty plus years’ experience in providing business valuations, litigation support services and a range of management and financial consulting services to a wide variety of clients in many industry sectors as well to the public sectors and ten years in public practice providing audit, tax and accounting services.
She has appeared as an expert witness in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and before the Public Accounts Committee for the government of British Columbia providing insights and explanations on valuation issues.
Janet is one of the most senior business valuators on Vancouver Island and at Malahat Valuation Group, she collaborates and mentors other valuators on all business valuation engagements. Her three decades of valuation experience are invaluable and really is our not-so-secret competitive advantage. Simply put, she adds incremental perspective and provide additional assurance to every valuation assignment.
Bruce F. Smith
An educational background in business from Ryerson University in Toronto, combined with a successful career in large and small organizations such as Johnson & Johnson and KTel International have given Bruce a solid background in Finance, Sales and Marketing. Experience doing Trade Shows led to the establishment of a Design & Exhibit company in the late 90’s.
Bruce has firsthand experience at building companies from scratch to profitability. He knows what it takes to build a corporate model with the systems and processes that purchasers will see as a solid foundation they can build on. Bruce offers a particularly unique set of skills and experience.
