BUSINESS VALUATIONS

Business valuations provided by Malahat Valuation Group are essential for assessing the true value of a business, whether you are buying, selling, building a succession plan, assessing your corporate strategy or dealing with a shareholder or legal dispute.

Malahat Valuation Group provides our clients with an independent and objective expert value opinion of their business, assets or ownership interest performed by Chartered Business Valuators that comply with CICBV Standards* that will stand up to scrutiny, while emphasizing timeliness and affordability.

The valuation of a business, or its underlying assets, calls for a combination of science, experience and professional judgment that yields practical insight into the strategic, operational and financial affairs of the business.  The resulting valuation reports help our clients gain a true value perspective of their business or business interest.

Malahat Valuation Process

A growing number of our valuation engagements are undertaken in preparation of a business sale in order to derive a current Fair Market Value and to identify the value drivers that can potentially enhance the value of the business today and in the future.   Our Value Advisory practice further works with those clients to execute on the identified value drivers to increase their business value prior to exposing their business to the open market, resulting in higher ROI (return on investment).

Why should you get a valuation?

There is a number of reasons why your company should have an accurate business valuation done and updated on a regular basis; from being buyer ready to financing or attracting capital, to attracting and retaining your key staff; developing a sound understanding of your organization’s tangible and intangible assets value and understanding what value levers to pull to maximize it, makes your business much more attractive and valuable should you need to sell, leverage or re-organize.

Many companies struggle when it comes time to raise funds or attract key partners because they have overlooked this important step in the earliest stages. It is never too late to re-assess and develop a business valuation that will set the stage for optimal growth into the future.  Read our blog for many other reasons to get a valuation and get it early.

*Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV), this is the gold standard in Canada which is accepted by the Courts and Revenue Canada Agency. All our reports are peer-reviewed by senior level CBV's, who confirm the validity of the assumptions and the data before the draft and final reports are presented.
